Terms of Use

Who we are

This site is operated by Lakeshore Exit Partners ("we," "us"), a CPA-led advisory practice based in Chicago, Illinois. Questions about these terms: info@lakeshoreexitpartners.com.

Information, not advice

Everything on this site is general information about our practice and about business sales. It is not legal, tax, investment, or accounting advice for your situation, and reading it does not make you a client. Figures on this site, such as typical fee ranges or valuation multiples, describe markets in general terms and are not a quote or an appraisal of any business.

No client relationship without an engagement letter

A client relationship with us begins only when both sides sign a written engagement letter that describes the scope and fees of the work. Requesting a consult, emailing us, or submitting a form does not create one. Until an engagement letter is signed, do not send us confidential documents.

Consult requests and confidentiality

We treat consult requests and inquiries as confidential as a matter of practice, and we do not sell or share them. Because no client relationship exists at that stage, that confidentiality is a professional courtesy rather than a legal privilege.

Sale representation

Preparation services are offered on the flat-fee terms published on this site. Sale representation, where offered, is subject to applicable Illinois registration and is agreed case by case in the engagement letter.

Client portal

Portal access is limited to active clients and their invited advisors. You are responsible for keeping your credentials private and for the accuracy of documents you upload. We may suspend access to protect the security of the portal or its contents.

Intellectual property

The content, design, and marks on this site belong to Lakeshore Exit Partners or their licensors. You may read, link to, and share pages; you may not republish substantial portions commercially without permission. The skyline photograph on our homepage is by Daniel Schwen, used under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on general information from this site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Illinois law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute about this website belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in Cook County, Illinois.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version is posted here with an updated date.
